No they aren’t. You can beat all the bosses without building any arenas. It’s possible, and it’s not even hard. You just suck.

Thanks to morons like you, now all the mods have boxes for all the bosses. How fricking boring but not as boring as everything slowly devolving into an immune boss that bullet hells you until time runs out and it auto dies after. Truly, the modding community has gone to sh*t.

When did the class thing start? I've played Terraria 3 or 4 times, the latest version each time, and don't remember classes.
- Anonymous

Reply
because some autists are forcing it. There's literally no need to play classes but people want to show off in multiplayer how they're so good at gun weapons which is the easiest weapon type in the game
- Anonymous
Reply
"class" just means sticking to one damage type because people who play the game are huge autists and think they should be restricted to a single damage type
I think the first damage type exclusive stuff was mostly with the hard mode update adding armor with different buffs based on the helmetI usually go for the thorn ring thing, so if I play the game today I'm at no risk of speccing into the wrong weapons on accident and nerfing my thorn ring?
- Anonymous

Reply
there is no specing. You can swap your armor and accessories whenever you want. Though obviously some of them can be a hassle to make, giving you some incentive to stick to one damage type.

So what does "classes" even refer to? Is it purely a meme?
- Anonymous

it refers to armor sets and accessories that boost damage toward certain weapon types and the people just want to hoard the gun ones for themselves

Well, weapons had damage types before gear started to be focused on them so people still played as "classes" back then. - Anonymous

Have fun dealing no damage to anything with your nonsensical mixed buildclasses were a mistake.
Nah, it adds replayability
you can get 4 play throughs with a different class each time

yes you also can run in circles, so it doesn't have to be that wide

Then don't? You might need to blow up some stuff to make space at times, but other than that gravity potion + git gud is sufficient.

If you're seriously being filtered that hard by a core mechanic of the game then just install one of the several mods which make building arenas easy.

learn the terrain around you and deal with it... or do you insinuate that you could get filtered by arenaless skelebro?

Don't build an arena then, the middle section of the map is a relatively flat plain flanked by 2 large hills, on a large map this area is big enough for all of your kiting needs. Set down campfires for light/regen and you're good to go, optionally add a platform layer above for maneuverability and anti-corruption barriers on each side so you can do biome-specific bosses without it leaking elsewhere

I hate the hardmode preperations like walling off the middle section with wood so the evil doesn't spread and making sure the jungle doesn't get fricked.

just spent 2 hours trying to get the terrprisma pre cultists, I wanna fricking die
Betsys wings + soaring insignia
makes phase one easy as frick
Phase two requires actual dodging thoughSo what does "classes" even refer to? Is it purely a meme?
No, these anons are moronic, there are 4 classes, each with their own armors, weapons and accessories
you have to stick to one class setup to maximize your damage output
unless you want to intentionally nerf your build by playing with random weapons and armor, which sounds painful- Anonymous

>wait what? seriously?
Yes. At one point, a mechanic was introduced where torches would affect your luck, which slightly increases drop rates and other assorted things like that. If you placed the correct torch to match its biome (kind of, it's a bit naff in places), you'd get a small boost, and if it didn't match, you'd get a small penalty. This was patched pretty quickly to make it so that your luck would never drop below zero because of torches, but the bonus was still present (along with a mini pseudo-boss event that gave you an item to automatically adjust torches, albeit not always aligning with luck bonuses). It's a weird choice of mechanic to add and really comes off as Red (or whomever) being bothered by something utterly inconsequential. - Anonymous

You don't need Xeno staff, and by extension Terraprisma to beat lunatic cultist. Raven staff or Desert Tiger staff is enough to take it down. Hell, even Sanguine staff still get the job done

>It's a weird choice of mechanic to add and really comes off as Red (or whomever) being bothered by something utterly inconsequential.
Red added it because he was playing with friends and he hated that they just slapped down random ass torches everywhere. So he made an incentive to stop doing that. That's the only reason why and he was very upfront about it when he did it and people found out about it. He changed it because everyone raged at him really hard about it. - Anonymous

again, this dumb sh*t is being forced. You can beat the game wearing melee armor because it provides the best defense while using summons and guns to do damage

It's not, you should try it some time. Really good weapons of any damage type will still sh*t out damage even if you have no buffs for it.

I only use a couple. One big multi-stage arena somewhere near the middle of the map for bosses that can be fought there, some small platforms for Skeletron just to get off the ground (not a long pathway like a hom*osexual, though), some platforms in the Crimson for the Brain, and some space for Plantera (frick Plantera, though). Anything more than that is for turbocasuals.

>If you aren't playing a strict class loadout you're dealing 0 damage
In my summoner run i always had at least a few side weapons for most of the game and they worked fine, some were outdamaging the whips even, it even encourages you to mix and match accesories since the whips count as melee
In my mage run i was playing with summons and they were free damage and i was forced to use a sword for most of the earlygame cause my world gen had neither a wand of sparking of any gems to work with
Sticking to single class damage is minmaxing autism, the fact sentries exist and have armor for all 4 classes is the game's way of telling you don't HAVE to autistically use your class damage. - Anonymous
