(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2024 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

In 1935, Harland Sanders had been operating a Shell service station in North Corbin, Kentucky, for five years, operating a restaurant on the side that served chicken, country ham, and steak when he was named an honorary Kentucky Colonel by then-governor Ruby Laffoon. By 1939, he discovered that pressure frying allowed for his chicken to be cooked well and very quickly, and in the 1950s began franchising his Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants.

Interestingly, honorary Kentucky Colonels do not need to be Kentucky residents—the list of honorary Colonels includes multiple Presidents as well as the current host of Jeopardy!, Ken Jennings.

Oftentimes, business-related Final Jeopardy clues stop champions in their tracks—it’ll be interesting to see if that happens today with Drew.

Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:

(Scores: Drew $19,000 Luke $7,800 Jayaker $7,800)

Drew: Bet no more than $3,399 and enjoy win #7. (Actual bet: $1,000)

Luke: Going all in doesn’t guarantee you second; thus, I would bet all but $1 here—this covers anything but an all-in bet from Jayaker (that he’s guaranteed to win) and gives you second if he goes all in and is incorrect. (Actual bet: $7,000)

Jayaker: I believe the advantage is yours here for second by virtue of you leading after the first round. Thus, you should go all in to guarantee second place on a correct response. (Actual bet: $0)
